Lead Tour Directors Drive Team of Heroes

All MTC Family of Brands Tour Directors are superheroes, but two awesome women lead the charge. Learn more about our Lead Tour Directors, known across the world as Sue and Nancy!

Tour directors are a vital part of every trip with the MTC Family of Brands. As Lead TDs, in addition to working on their own trips, Sue and Nancy coordinate and conduct training, facilitate scheduling and provide support to all tour directors before, during and after every trip.

After 18 years as an MTC Tour Director, Sue Guindon has developed a reputation for meticulous planning and an unwavering commitment to student experiences.

Her first trip in 2008 took her from Georgia to Florida with the Walton HS Band, and since then, she has guided countless groups across the country. “Attention to detail is key,” Sue advised. “Preparation, preparation, preparation!”

“Every trip has challenges, both expected and unexpected, but with planning, resourcefulness and support, we handle whatever is thrown our way!”

In March 2020, Sue led a group in Orlando just as the world began shutting down due to the pandemic. “There were hints of the pandemic even before we left the school, but the district permitted the group to depart as scheduled,” she said. “The first day was great, but on the second afternoon, as the group was participating in a Disney Imagination Campus workshop, the director got a call from his superintendent that we had to cut the trip short and come home as a national emergency had just been declared.”

Orlando remains one of Sue’s favorite destinations. “I am always impressed with the Disney Imagination Campus workshops and performances,” she said. “I adore giving student performers the opportunity to become ‘honorary cast members’ at Disney.”

As one of the few MTC employees without a personal background in music, Sue developed an appreciation for music education through her children’s involvement in a high school music program. “Witnessing the positive impact it had on them helped me realize the immense value of music education. After they graduated, I felt a strong desire to remain connected to the field in some capacity,” she said. “Upon joining MTC as a tour director, I recognized that this was an opportunity I wanted to pursue for as long as possible. It is both a privilege and an honor to facilitate meaningful experiences for students.”

Former band director Nancy Reichmann has spent a decade leading student travel experiences with MTC, where her adaptability has made her a trusted tour director.

“Flexibility is the most important skill in this job! Sometimes the plan has to pivot based on circumstances beyond our control,” Reichmann said. “Every group has unique needs, and I enjoy finding how I can best assist the group based on their travel experience.”

One of her most memorable trips was in April 2021, when she led MTC’s first group back on the road after the pandemic halted operations. “Traveling in the midst of a pandemic presents unique challenges, but we have embraced those challenges and have found workable solutions for our groups to safely get back to traveling again,” she said.

“We consult with the clients every step of the way, from trip design to implementation, to ensure it is a life-changing and memorable experience for all the travelers.”

Nancy’s favorite destination is New York City. “There is never a bad time of year to visit NYC!” she said. “There is a huge contrast between springtime in Central Park in full bloom to wintertime with all the magnificent holiday decorations around the iconic ice skating rink and massive Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.”
